According to Srimanto Sen, the Secretary of the Bar Council of India, the names of 107 fake lawyers have been removed from the roll in Delhi alone as part of the continuous endeavor to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the legal community. The Bar Council of India (BCI) has taken action against 107 fake lawyers in Delhi by removing their names from its roll between 2019 and October 2024. This was done as part of their continuous efforts to uphold "integrity and professionalism". "This decisive action is intended to weed out fraudulent lawyers and those no longer upholding the standards of legal practice. " By taking this action, the BCI has endeavored to uphold the public's trust and safeguard the integrity of the legal system, as stated in a BCI announcement on October 26. BCI secretary Srimanto Sen gracefully announced that, in Delhi alone, the names of 107 fake lawyers have been removed from the roll. This action is a vital part of their continuous endeavor to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the legal community. Between 2019 and June 23, 2023, several thousand fake advocates were removed following a comprehensive investigation into their credentials and practices. These removals are primarily caused by problems with fake and forged certificates and misrepresentation during enrollment. Additionally, not engaging in active legal practice and failing to comply with the Bar Council's verification procedures can also result in advocates' names being removed from active practice. The highest court has been issuing rulings on matters concerning the expulsion of fraudulent lawyers from the legal field. "The fraudulent attorneys are detected through ongoing investigations carried out by the bar council and the high-powered committee established by the apex court in the matter of Ajay Shanker Srivastava v. "Bar Council of India: "Some cases related to forgery were under review prior to the rule change, while others were addressed post the amendment," it stated.
